James Danter and Sons are the official organisers of The Tewkesbury Mop Fair. From organising road closures, setting up and manning the rides. Our aim is to make this event special, allowing everyone to experience this long standing tradition.

 

The Tewkesbury Mop Fair celebrates 800 years of Fairs. It is not known for certain when fairs were first held in Tewkesbury. Local folklore suggests that it was in the Norman times, but and alternative source implies that it could have been as early as the Saxon period. It is however quite certain that King John help a large fair here in 1199 AD.

 

It is the Biggest Street Fair in the west, with Traditional Rides and Stalls complemented with the very latest Thrill Rides. 

 

The Fair is fun for all ages and everyone has a great time!

 

Shops, Cafes, Pubs and Restaurants Stay Open while the Fair takes over the Medieval Town centre. Rides and stalls can be found between fine Tudor Buildings and in some of the Town centre car parks. 

 

Car Parking is provided a short walk away and signs for this can be found near the Tewkesbury centre.
